The Beginnings of Protea
Protea was founded in 2001 by Tomasz Paszkiewicz, who gained many years of professional experience in Norway, working on projects for the offshore and oil & gas sectors. It was there that the idea emerged to establish a company combining the high engineering standards of the Scandinavian markets with a more flexible and competitive approach to design and production.
From the very beginning, Protea’s ambition has been to design and deliver specialized lifting equipment and transport systems that combine reliability, quality, and advanced engineering expertise. The foundations of the company’s activities have been built on long-term relationships with clients, an individual approach to each project, and the ability to deliver solutions for demanding offshore, marine, energy, and heavy industry environments.

Building the foundations (2001–2005)
In its early years, Protea quickly strengthened its position in the Scandinavian market. A major step forward came in 2004, when the company joined forces with the design office NTD from Olesno, significantly expanding its engineering and design capabilities. Just one year later, Protea delivered its first offshore pedestal crane – a milestone project that defined the company’s future direction and opened the door to international contracts.

Scaling up production (2008–2012)
Growing demand led to the opening of Protea’s own production facility in Ligota Górna in 2008. This investment brought greater independence, shorter lead times and improved quality control.
In 2012, Protea took another major step by building a 26-metre assembly hall, increasing production capacity to 2,000 tonnes of steel structures per year.

Entering offshore wind (from 2010)
Since 2010, Protea has been actively developing solutions for the offshore wind sector, supplying equipment for global Offshore Wind projects. At the same time, the company has continued to modernise its infrastructure and machinery to meet the growing technical and quality requirements of the industry.

A new stage of development (2024)
In 2024, Protea completed another important phase of growth. The company expanded its paint shop and warehouse, installed photovoltaic panels, and built a modern test field for cranes. These investments support Protea’s sustainability strategy and further strengthen its position in the offshore market.

Looking ahead
In 2026, Protea will celebrate its 25th anniversary — a quarter of a century of continuous growth, international projects and engineering expertise that continues to shape the future of global energy and industry.
