Winches

Protea designs and manufactures winches available with hydraulic, pneumatic and electric drives.

Hydraulic winches – Single- and double-drum units for high-duty offshore operations, typically supplied as part of complete hydraulic systems or as standalone units for rigs and FPSOs.

Pneumatic winches – Purpose-designed for offshore and hazardous areas, providing safe and reliable operation in harsh marine environments.

Electric winches – Clean and energy-efficient solutions, reducing power consumption by up to 20% and eliminating the risk of hydraulic oil leaks.

All winches are built to client specifications, compliant with DNV and ABS, equipped with optional accessories and fully tested before delivery.

Launch & Recovery System

Protea designs and manufactures bespoke A-frame Launch and Recovery Systems combining the A-frame, vehicle interface, winches and controls into one integrated solution. The systems are designed for fast mobilisation, safe operation in harsh sea states and long-term reliability, supporting applications such as trenchers, ploughs and subsea equipment deployment.

Well Intervention System

Protea provides well intervention handling systems for the safe and precise deployment of equipment to subsea wells in water depths up to 3,000 m.
Systems can be supplied turnkey or as individual modules, including handling towers, deck equipment, active heave-compensated winches, HPUs, nitrogen units and control systems.

Skidding Systems

Protea supplies BOP skidding systems as part of complete BOP crane packages or as upgrades to existing installations.
Using our in-house engineering expertise, we deliver turnkey upgrade solutions – from survey and design through manufacture, installation and commissioning – significantly improving the functionality and service life of existing BOP handling systems.

BOP Transportation

Protea BOP Transporters provide a safe and controlled solution for moving Blowout Preventers (BOPs) on offshore drilling units, including semi-submersible platforms.
Designed for demanding rig environments, the system enables precise positioning and transfer of BOPs between handling areas and installation points, reducing manual handling and improving operational safety. Protea transporters can be custom engineered to suit newbuilds or rig upgrade projects, such as major platform conversions and refurbishments.

Personel & Cargo Lifts

Protea supplies personnel and cargo lifting systems for safe and reliable operations.
Our range includes scissor lifts for two-person access, rig elevators for deck-to-floor transfer, and cargo-only platforms with capacities up to 500 kg — all fully compliant with offshore standards and designed for long-term offshore use.
