A Polish Contribution to Offshore Wind Development
Protea has successfully designed and manufactured four RAM luffing offshore cranes for the Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm. The units were delivered to Protea’s partner, PTSC Mechanical & Construction, where they will be integrated into the Baltica 2 platform infrastructure.
The cranes, each with a lifting capacity of 5 tonnes and an outreach of 22 meters, were engineered to operate reliably in demanding offshore and marine environments. Designed for efficiency and durability, they will support cargo handling operations between supply vessels and the offshore platform, as well as daily operational activities at sea.
Developed by Ørsted and PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, Baltica 2 is a 1.5 GW offshore wind project located approximately 40 km off the Polish coast near Ustka. Once fully operational in 2027, the wind farm is expected to generate clean electricity for nearly 2.5 million households, representing a significant milestone in Poland’s transition toward renewable energy sources.
As a Polish engineering company, we are proud to contribute to a project of national importance and to support the growing offshore wind sector in the Baltic Sea. Participation in Baltica 2 reflects Protea’s continued expansion within the renewable energy industry and its commitment to delivering reliable lifting solutions for offshore applications worldwide.
